Refrigerated cargo carrier
A refrigerated cargo carrier, often called a reefer ship, transports cargo in cooled or frozen holds. Temperature control is central to carrying goods such as fruit, fish, and other perishables safely over a sea voyage.
This type refers to a ship’s own refrigerated cargo spaces. It is distinct from a container ship that may carry refrigerated containers powered through plugs.
